Robbert Jan Dekker
Robbert Jan Dekker is the Managing Director of Dekker Hout and the Chairman of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Netherlands.
After studying at the Nijenrode University in Business and earning his Batchelor degree in Business Administration, Robbert Jan Dekker (born 1968) went to Georgetown University in Washington where he earned his Master of Science in Foreign Services in 1992, with an Honorary Degree in International Business Diplomacy.
Back in Europe Robbert Jan started as a Sales Manager for the Banque Indosuez Luxembourg in Luxembourg. After two years he decided to return to the Netherlands to make his contribution to the family owned company Dekker Hout. Dekker Hout is one of the most progressive timber companies of The Netherlands and Europe, specialized in import, export and product processing of tropical timber. Dekker Hout is listed in the European top 3 of companies that produce certified sustainable timber.
Robbert Jan Dekker is the fourth generation which is active in the Dutch family owned company. Dekker Hout was established in 1885 as a local timber company and has become one of the bigger timber companies in The Netherlands. Dekker Hout is located in The Hague, Warmond and Vianen in The Netherlands and owns various production sites and offices in Bolivia, Brazil, Malaysia and Indonesia. In 2009 Robbert Jan Dekker became the new Chairman of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Netherlands.
